Math is cool. It’s getting cooler as well. This year I’m giving myself the goal to become fluent in math. What that means is left vague, so that I have options to pursue based on what I enjoy. To start though, I’m diving into the field of statistics. At Jumo, there are some great statisticians, decision scientists, and data scientists. I hope to lean on them occasionally to get me through some of the harder aspects. Also, companies like Udacity, Udemy, and Khan academy all offer courses on stats, with ample resources supporting them. My goal here is to learn for as cheap as possible, and to have a solid grasp of statistics so that I can have a 15 minutes conversation with a mathematician at Jumo.
