JUMO raised $12.5 million to take our total fundraising to over $105 million. It’s a remarkable achievement, and a testament to the ability and work ethic of everyone I work with at JUMO.
A big part of running a startup is fundraising, and especially in Africa I see startup CEOs spending the majority of their time on raising money instead of focusing on the product. Some people think it should be the other way around, but I disagree. I think if a CEO can build a team around her that she trusts and that can execute her vision, the most value she can add is giving her team the runway it needs to succeed. I want to build that skill one day. I hope I get the chance to. For now, I’m happy I have a CEO who does.
