Finding our Niche at boomering

When we conceived boomering we had in mind a family communication platform – based on voice – that would enable families to share stories intimately. We wanted to bring back the dinner table conversation. A place where everyone is included, where anyone can share, and where it is completely safe and private. We also know that technology is not senior friendly. We believe that communication platforms today lock out seniors. There’s no longer a seat at the table for the elderly. What’s more worrying is that young people have also started feeling more lonely.

Unfortunately, our ambition led us away from our initial conception. We built a great communication for everyone. Our current product has no product led growth levers in it. We simply offer the product to everyone, without any differentiators within the product. This makes it just another communication platform, of which there are hundreds. We are going after too large of a market. That sounds counterintuitive, but at our level its not. We have to be laser focused on a very specific niche, and aggressively go after that niche.

So we will be shipping some new features in the next month that bring us back to a family focused messaging platform. Boomering has always been the most intuitive and easy to use voice platform. Our intention is to be accessible secure, safe, and fun. Your grandpa should be able to use our app and enjoy doing so! These new features will be distribution levers. We will ask users to invite their family members immediately onto the app. We will categorize them and create a family group off the jump. After onboarding users should see their family members on the app, and whether they are pending or already there. Invites will be reimagined, and we will add a family plan. Basically, were drilling down on our initial idea by improving our product led growth mechanisms.
